Parenting Course

Most parents feel the need for some support and encouragement from time to time. For three consecutive Sunday evenings in the New Year Hope Community Church ran a parenting course in the village. Hope Community Church is involved with the after school Bible Club, school assemblies, runs Little Hoppers toddlers group and is based at Teversham Chapel.

The course was hosted by Al and Rachel MacInnes. Al is the pastor of Hope Community Church and he and his wife Rachel have two children – (aged 3 & 6 months), one of them at Teversham Playgroup. Most of the course was led by Matthew and Alison Evans who are also members at Hope. Alison is the head teacher of a local Primary School and Matthew works for a national Christian organisation. They have two grown up children. The course used tried and tested material developed by Ann Benton, author of ‘Aren’t they Lovely when they’re Asleep?’

A good number of parents came along each week and were helped in their parenting. During the final session we held a question and answer time and there was lots of good interaction as parents shared with each other ways in which they have found their way through some of the tricky issues of parenting.
